Context & Background
Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. Long before starting my studies
at Hogeschool PXL, I was already teaching myself web development through online resources,
tutorials and personal experimentation. This collection represents the projects and
mini-builds I am most proud of from that self-directed learning journey.
These projects were built outside of any formal coursework, driven purely by curiosity
and the desire to improve. They cover a range of topics — from landing page design and
CSS animations to small interactive JavaScript applications. Building these gave me the
foundation I needed to hit the ground running in my first year of Applied Computer Science.

What Was Built
The collection includes the following pieces:
-
This Portfolio Website — designed and developed from scratch,
featuring a multi-page layout, custom CSS animations, a typing effect, a scroll-reveal
system and a custom cursor. The site you are reading right now!
-
A Product Landing Page — a fictional tech product landing page
built to practise conversion-focused layout, visual hierarchy and smooth scroll
interactions.
-
CSS Art Pieces — several illustrations created using only HTML/CSS,
exploring what is possible without any images or JavaScript.
-
A JavaScript Quiz App — a multiple-choice quiz with a score counter,
question timer and a results page, built to practise DOM manipulation and event handling.

What I Learned
These personal projects were arguably where I learned the most — because the learning
was entirely self-motivated. Without a teacher to guide me, I had to read documentation,
search for solutions, and iterate until things worked.
- Advanced CSS — custom properties, flexbox, grid, animations and transitions
- JavaScript fundamentals — DOM manipulation, events, timers and local storage
- Design principles — typography, colour theory, spacing and visual hierarchy
- Hosting and deployment — GitHub Pages for static sites
- Reading documentation and self-directed problem solving
